Bible Classes
Adult Sunday Morning Bible Class at 10:00 am • The class is led by Jim Essig. We are studying the book of Acts. Classes are in the Music Room during our 10:00 am Education Hour, between 9 am & 11 am worship.
SUNDAY SCHOOL FOR AGE 4 – GRADE 5: Heart of God • This year, our Sunday School will be digging into the “Heart of God.” Our volunteers will help children understand God’s attributes through Bible stories, crafts, games and more. Each week the children will learn about who God is and how we can follow Him. *NEW! Youth Summer Bible Class – 10:00am • This summer youth bible class will be held at McDonald’s (next to the church) for breakfast and bible study. They will be looking at what the bible says about serving him as a teen and having bible-based discussions. Be sure to have the bible app downloaded on to your phone!
The Mid-week Bible Class is taking a break for this summer through the month of June to mid-July.
Summer Office Hours • The church office will close at noon on Fridays during June and July. If you need campus access on Friday afternoon, please call ahead to make special arrangements.
Youth Sunday Morning Bible Study & Youth Night Today • Today Youth Ministry will kick off with our Morning Bible Discussion at McDonalds from 10am-10:45am. Then, this evening will mark the return of Youth Night from 6pm-7:30pm. Middle School & High School students will enjoy a variety of games and activities as well as a devotion about recognizing the people in our lives that God has placed there to help us. It will be nice to be back into our regular Youth Ministry rhythm after so many students helped lead Bible Camp and help launch PoP Kids in the last month.
Save the Date: Annual Back-to-School Event on Saturday, August 3 at 9am • Prince of Peace/Príncipe de Paz will again host its annual Back-to-School event that serves upwards of 800 people from our community. If you would like to contribute towards this event, you can donate online, mail to the church, or drop it off at the church office. Volunteers Needed for Coffee Hour on Sundays • We are looking for more volunteers who will be willing to help serve coffee and treats during coffee hour on Sundays at 10am. Beginning July 21st, Kathy will not be available to do coffee hour until September 8. Church/Preschool Offices Closed Thursday, July 4 – Independence Day • The church and preschool offices will be closed for Independence Day a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the Declaration of Independence, which was ratified by the Second Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, establishing the United States of America.
PoP Kids Family Craft Party – Sunday, July 7 at 3pm to 5pm in the FLC • Ready to get crafty? We are inviting kids to come and explore several craft stations with their parents. We will have at least 3 Preschool stations and 3 Elementary stations set up where they can work on a variety of crafts. Kids are encouraged to wear their PoP Kids T-shirts (and to see Mr. Gerken if they don’t have one yet). We hope you will join us for this and other fun family events throughout the year. Families can simply come and enjoy!
Let’s Help Those in Need! Medicine Donations Needed • Deaconess Ligia is requesting donations for medicine/medical supplies that will be sent to those in need outside of the country. All donations were greatly appreciated and could be dropped from the church office. Loaves & Fishes: Monthly Food Pantry Distribution Updates
June’s Food Pantry was held on Saturday, June 22. We were blessed to have served 436 families for a total of 1,737 individuals! They had 2,017 pounds of potatoes and 498 pounds of baked goods to give to the food clients, in addition to the regular assortment of food they provide. Each family got two bags of food; a baked item; cereal; vegetable oil; milk; a bag of potatoes; frozen meat or poultry; and fruit juice. They had about 47 Volunteers including 5 Colonial High School Kiwanis Key Club students – 10 members of the Hispanic congregation directed vehicles into the parking lot and the queue lines, and registered people. 24 people working outside the food loading area, and 13 people bagging food, taking the food items outside, and staging scores of cases of food for the bagging operation. At the end of the day, approximately 322 bags of food were left. The amount of food bags distributed that day was approximately 617 (514 packed previously, plus 576 packed the same day, minus 473 remaining)
Addition of a New Freezer
On Tuesday, April 30, Second Harvest delivered a new freezer to the food pantry. This enhancement allows for increased storage capacity for the meat deliveries. The relocation of the freezer inside the Bickle building necessitated the assistance of five individuals. A big thank you to those who offered their support!

Sunday July 7- PoP Kids Family Craft Party: Come Volunteer with PoP Kids Craft Event at 3:00-5:00pm • We are looking for youth to help assist the kids, like how we did at SCUBA stations during the VBC. Wear your PoP Kids Shirt! We are inviting families to come and enjoy some fun with the kids while doing craft projects that are planned by our Sunday School Staff.
