Week of August 13, 2023

Today: “A Confident Faith: Whom shall I fear?” • Psalm 27; James 5:7-8; Luke 12:22-34 • During these next weeks, we do a deep dive into Psalm 27. In the constant activity of everyday life, we set aside some time to wait for the Lord, to seek Him and allow Him to lead us in His paths. “The Lord is my light and salvation–whom shall I fear?” The love, the power, and the victory of Jesus give us confidence as we face the challenges of this life. How will you and I rely upon the Lord this week? And how will Jesus’ love and power shine through us?

Special: Jesus, in all the busyness of life, help us to slow down and to wait for the Lord. Give us confidence in Your victory and love and power, so that we would not only bask in Your light, but also let Your light shine through us. • We pray for those affected by the wildfires in Maui and all those who suffer from natural disasters. Do not let Your people lose hope in the face of these disasters. Rather, let them shine with Your light, reflecting Your salvation. • We continue to pray for all teachers, families, and children in the full week of school. • We ask the Lord to be with President Biden, members of Congress, and the Supreme Court, as well as all state and local leaders. • Lord, watch over and keep our first responders safe. • We ask that You would draw many to seek Your face. Help us at Prince of Peace/Príncipe de Paz to be Your arms of welcome to all who seek You here.

For those in the military or deployed: We pray for those who serve our nation in the armed services and for those who are deployed, especially those connected with our PoP/PdeP family: Zachary Carbonell, Kyle Holysz, Matthew Rojas, Amanda S, Greg S, Geoffrey W.
