Week of August 7, 2022

Today in Worship“Finding Faithful Stewards” • Scriptures: Exodus 14:1-14, 30-31; 2 Corinthians 8:16-24; Luke 16:1-15. Leaders in Christ’s church are accountable for raising up faithful stewards and, together, upholding the integrity of Christ. Paul continues his appeal to convince the Corinthians to participate in the collection for the poor in Jerusalem and now uses an important argument: the people in charge of the work are faithful and trustworthy stewards who are in good standing before the churches. Nothing inspires more confidence in the people of the church than to know that their leaders are acting with integrity and honesty in the administration of the resources with which they are entrusted. Because of our faith in Jesus—to whom we all are accountable, we need to be good stewards of what God has entrusted to our care and the resources we have are for the good of all. As a church, we need to make sure that every one of us is a faithful steward, encouraging one another to participate in this grace of giving out of love for God’s work and His kingdom. How does faithfulness and integrity among God’s holy people “adorn” the Gospel of truth? In what ways are you growing as a faithful steward of the resources God has given?

Topics: teaches kids the basic truths about God using both Old Testament and New Testament stories. Kids will walk away from each class a new “God is…” statement (i.e. “God is powerful” or “God is kind”). This is an amazing opportunity for a child in your sphere of influence to learn about God in a safe place in a developmentally appropriate way. If your child has not attended Sunday School at PoP or has not for a long time, please follow this link to register your child.
