Week of October 1, 2023

Today: “The God Who Gives” • Romans 8:14-32; Joshua 1:1-9; Matthew 7:7-12 • Through His life and teaching Jesus revealed to us the fullness His Father’s goodness and love. A key characteristic of our Heavenly Father is that He is a giving God. This week we look at this Scripture filled with hope and promise: “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? “ (Romans 8:32) Yet, in the verses around this passage there are references to challenges and adversity, as well as declarations of victory. What does it mean for us to have such a generous God—giving His Son and graciously giving us all things—as we live in a world seems to discount or take away the goodness that people might otherwise take in? And if we are truly super-victorious in Jesus, how will we offer others what God has given us?
