Week of October 16, 2022

Today in Worship • “Faith That Speaks Life” • Genesis 32:22–30; Psalm 121; 2 Timothy 3:14–4:5; Luke 18:1–8 There are so many voices in our world, so many platforms for people to share what they think ( “share your truth,” people say). How does one cut through the noise? What words are true, life giving, enduring and eternal? Our faithful God has given us words of life, powerful and true—”God breathed,” in fact. His Word is powerful because it connect us with Jesus and creates faith in Him, the One who has been called the “Word that became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14). Jesus’ words are powerful. He speaks and sin, guilt, and shame are cancelled. His word gives power for us to live as the people of God. How is God speaking to you through His word today? How is He equipping you to speak life into others?
About our Sermon Series: Great Is Thy Faithfulness: Our faithful God is the One who has shown His faithfulness in every circumstance: His mercies are new every morning. He keeps every promise. He has been faithful to give His Son, Jesus, for the life of the world. And He has granted us faith to trust and rely on Jesus—pouring into us a faith that responds to His faithfulness and lives to make a difference in this world through the power of Jesus’ love.

Today is LWML Sunday We celebrate the ways God uses the women of the LWML to further Christ’s mission. Read more here.

Special: Lord God, You are faithful to give us Your word of life, connecting us with Jesus and the power of Your Spirit. Let us drink deeply of Your word so it would be living and active in us, not only to create faith, but also so we would be faithful in carrying out Your work and doing Your will, bringing life in Jesus’ name to others. • We thank God for the mission heart of the LWML, for the ways these women serve God and support Jesus’ mission. • We pray for our Preschool, asking that Your love and Your world would make an eternal difference in the lives of those we serve. • We continue to pray for recovery efforts for Hurricane Ian. • We ask the Lord to be with President Biden, members of Congress, and the Supreme Court, as well as all state and local leaders. • We pray for those who serve our nation in the armed services. We also ask the Lord to watch over and keep our first responders safe.
