Hallmarks of Generous Living
Acting with integrity, raising up faithful stewards—leaders in Christ’s church are accountable for this work. Paul continues his appeal to convince the Corinthians to participate in the collection for the poor in Jerusalem and now uses an important argument: the people in charge of the work are faithful and trustworthy stewards who are in good standing before the churches. Nothing inspires more confidence in the people of the church than to know that their leaders are acting with integrity and honesty in the administration of the resources with which they are entrusted. Because of our faith in Jesus, to whom we all are accountable, we need to be good stewards of what God has entrusted to our care and the resources we have are for the good of all. As a church, we need to make sure that every one of us is a faithful steward, encouraging one another to participate in this grace of giving out of love for God’s work and His kingdom. How does faithfulness and integrity among God’s holy people “adorn” the Gospel of truth? In what ways are you growing as a faithful steward of the resources God has given?
