Disciples: Subjects of the King
Today is “Christ the King” Sunday. Jesus, whose coming we eagerly await, is our King who will bring complete salvation to all his followers and justice to the world as the Supreme Judge of the universe. His Kingdom is not of this world—that would be too small, too limited! Jesus King of the universe, king of all creation. Jesus was coronated at the cross and He has full authority to not only justify those who live by faith, but also to exercise His justice in all the world. As Jesus-followers we live under His eternal reign. How is acknowledging Jesus as our King distinct from simply envisioning Jesus as our “candidate” or elected leader? How does living under His reign bring you comfort? Whom do you know that needs the comfort and peace that only living under Jesus’s reign can bring?
