Message: “Who Wants to be Humble?” from Rev. Alston Kirk

When reading a story, I love to get caught up in the lives of the main characters. In chapter 4 of The Story, we learn of Moses, his background and upbringing; his struggles and his self-imposed exile; Moses' Calling and the Lord's mighty deliverance for His people. There is a great deal of action to this part of God's story, so much so that it could be easy to miss how, at the burning bush, Moses is stubbornly resistant to the idea that the Lord is Calling him to something. By God's grace, He does not necessarily call those who are qualified, but He qualifies and equips all those whom He calls. What is God's calling for us as His people at Prince of Peace? Do you have a sense of God's unique calling for you—you are His child, after all. What forms of resistance do you find as you acknowledge the Lord's work in and through you? Have you considered that the Lord who calls is even the one who parts the waters of the sea?
