Week of August 16, 2026

TODAY: “Room at the Table” • Matthew 15:21-28; Isaiah 56:1, 6-8; Romans 11:1-2a, 13-15, 28-32 • The Gospel is full of surprises. Jesus travels into foreign territory, and it is a Canaanite woman—an outsider—who recognizes Him as “Lord, Son of David.” She cries out for mercy, yet Jesus is silent. The disciples urge Him to send her away, but she is persistent. Even when Jesus speaks of the bread being for the children who sit at the table, she boldly trusts that there is enough grace even in the crumbs that fall. Her daughter is healed—not because she belonged, but because she believed. The kingdom’s boundaries prove wider than anyone expected, and mercy reaches where we least anticipate it.

In just over a month, $8,654 has been donated! To give, please designate gifts above and beyond your regular offerings for “Building Fund.”

Would you be in a more favorable tax position if you make an IRA gift to Prince of Peace? More members over 70½ have chosen to make a donation to Prince of Peace through their traditional IRA. Directing all or part of your RMD to the church is a Qualified Charitable Donation (QCD) that can benefit Prince of Peace without those dollars being included in your taxable income. Learn more by clicking here https://bit.ly/ira-charity-gifts.

Consider making a gift of appreciated stock, mutual fund, or another asset to Prince of Peace. The best assets to use for a gift are those that have appreciated significantly, such as publicly traded securities and real property. Assets you’ve owned for more than one year may qualify for a full range of tax benefits. Typical appreciated assets may include publicly traded securities, privately/closely held stock, mutual funds, and more. Learn more by clicking here https://bit.ly/donate-appreciated-assets.
