Bible Classes
Adult Sunday Morning Bible Class at 10:00 am • The class is led by Jim Essig. We are studying the book of Acts. Classes are in the Music Room during our 10:00 am Education Hour, between 9 am & 11 am worship.
SUNDAY SCHOOL FOR AGE 4 – GRADE 5: Heart of God • We help children experience God’s love through Bible stories, crafts, games and more., as we learn to follow Jesus. The children will have a lot of fun and learn important faith lessons at the same time. https://poporlando.breezechms.com/form/57d9c8
Youth Summer Bible Class – 10:00am • This summer youth bible class will be held at McDonald’s (next to the church) for breakfast and bible study. They will be looking at what the bible says about serving him as a teen and having bible-based discussions. Be sure to have the bible app downloaded on to your phone!
*The Mid-week Bible Class Resumes THIS WEDNESDAY, August 7 at 9:30am in the Board Room.

PoP Kids Pool Party TODAY at Dover Shores Pool From 2:30p-4:30p Come splash around with new friends and old as we enjoy time together! While this is event is a post SCUBA event for the kids who came to Bible Camp, all Youth (middle and high school), whether they volunteered at SCUBA or not are invited to attend. The cost of the event is $4.26 per person. Children must be supervised by a parent/adult; they cannot just be dropped off. Please contact DCE Eric Gerken in the church office with any questions. Thank you to all Back-to-School Volunteers! We would like to say “Thank You” to all volunteers who helped fill bags with school supplies, helped during the event and after, to all vendors participating, and to those who donated towards the event.

Children’s Ministry Volunteer Interest Meeting: Saturday, August 10 Are you interested in personally making ministry to Children and Young Families more effective at Prince of Peace/Principe de Paz?  On Saturday, August 10th at 10:00am in the Family Life Center, we will have a short meeting to present the vision for how we can better serve the spiritual needs of the next generation. You are encouraged to attend the meeting if ANY of the following sound like something you would want to volunteer for or support:
–               Sunday Morning Nursery Ministry – Planning Team or volunteer
–               Sunday School – classroom helper, supply coordinator
–               PoP Kids- Planning Team, event volunteer, behind the scenes prep, Community relations
–               Special Events Teams – Trunk or Treat, Easter Egg Hunt, Bible Camp, Christmas Event, etc.
–               PoP Preschool Engagement Team- Preschool Reader, Special Events, National Lutheran Schools Week

Attending the meeting is NOT a commitment to participate. The meeting will provide information and opportunities to volunteer or seek more information. Please contact DCE Eric Gerken with any questions.

Youth Night – Sunday, August 11 at 6:00pm All Youth are invited for an evening of games, activities, and devotions. They will be intentional about getting to know some new(er) friends.  Invite some friends to join and have a great night!

Volunteers Needed for Coffee Hour on Sundays We are looking for more volunteers who will be willing to help serve coffee and treats during coffee hour on Sundays at 10am. Beginning July 21st, Kathy will not be available to do coffee hour until September 8. Confirmation Ministry Survey Do you have a child, grandchild or friend of the family who is in 6th-12th Grade and would be interested in Confirmation Ministry this Fall? We are currently surveying families who are interested in Confirmation about their preferences for format and class frequency. Let’s Help Those in Need! Medicine Donations Needed Deaconess Ligia is requesting donations for medicine/medical supplies that will be sent to organizations serving those in need in Central and South America. All donations were greatly appreciated and could be dropped off at the church office. The types of medicines needed were high blood pressure medicine, diabetic medicine, respiratory medicine, and adult diapers, etc. If you have any questions, please contact Ligia via email. | ligia.borges@poporlando.com

Compassion Project – Donations Needed! We are seeking the following items: AA and AAA batteries; men’s socks (white or black), and toothbrushes. All items can be dropped off in the church office, and they will be delivered to the Samaritan Resource Center. Thank you for helping those in need.

Loaves & Fishes: Monthly Food Pantry Distribution Updates
July’s Food Pantry was held on Saturday, July 27. We were blessed to have served 496 families for a total of 2,033 individuals! They had 2,480 pounds of plums and 684 pounds of baked goods to give to the food clients, in addition to the regular assortment of food they provide. Each family got two bags of food; a baked item; cereal; vegetable oil; milk; a bag of plums; frozen meat or poultry; and fruit juice. They had about 45 Volunteers including 2 Colonial High School Kiwanis Key Club students – Volunteers directed vehicles into the parking lot and the queue lines, and registered people. 5-9 volunteers working outside the food loading area, and bagging food, taking the food items outside, and staging scores of cases of food for the bagging operation. They began the day with 653 bags of groceries and bagged 384 bags the same day.

Youth Upcoming Events
Save the Date! Youth Lock-In: Friday, August 16 – Saturday, August 17 • For middle & high school students! The lock-in will start at 8:00pm on Friday and finish by 7:00 am on Saturday morning, possibly at PoP FLC. Sign-up will begin next week! More information will be provided soon. Contact DCE Eric Gerken with any questions.

Youth Night and National Youth Gathering 2025 Information Meeting – Sunday, September 1 at 5pm The National Youth Gathering in New Orleans in summer 2025 is going to be incredible! To help you decide about attending, we will have a meeting from 5p-6pm for eligible students and their parents to discuss the event.  What IS it? Why should I go? What else will we do in New Orleans? How will we get there? How much does it cost? These questions and more will be discussed as the time for registration approaches. This is only an informational meeting. You are not making any commitments by coming to gather information.

Youth Night from 6:00-7:30 For all Middle School and High School students. Come for the meeting and stay for a fun night of games and activities and sometime in God’s Word. We will be done by 7:30. Students who come to the meeting are not required to stay for Youth Night.

The new AED was delivered and installed on Tuesday, July 23 and is operational. It is in the front office as soon as you enter the second door to the entrance. Thank you to Joel Green for installing the new AED and we also thank all those who have responded to this special appeal.
