Week of May 25, 2025

TODAY: “Unexpected” • Acts 16:6-15; Revelation 21:9-14, 21-27; John 16:23-33 • God’s word tells us: “A person may plan his own journey, but the Lord directs his steps” (Proverbs 16:9, GW translation). The experience of the Apostle Paul during his second missionary journey shows how true this is. Paul had plans to continue his work in what is modern-day Turkey, but the Lord redirected Paul and his fellow missionaries to Europe—to the Roman colony of Philippi. There, the Spirit’s power worked in the life of Lydia, and the Christian faith gained a significant foothold for the spread of the Good News of Jesus throughout Europe. When have you had plans change, only to discover that God had a greater purpose all along? To whom may God be planning to send you to share His transforming love? Is your heart open to what God may have in store for you?

UPDATED AND CORRECTED
TRUE NORTH BIBLE CAMP
Less than a month away! June 9-13

How you can help:
There is quite a lot that is still needed before we greet kids in the TRUE NORTH this summer. Here is how you can help:

  1. Pray! For the children who will attend, pray for the leaders preparing the program, pray for the success of the program, pray for families who are still deciding if their child will participate, pray that all of the program needs are met and pray that God’s will would be done!
  2. This is a supply-heavy program. We have a list of needed supplies online at Sign UP Genius that is updated regularly as needs are identified. Please visit https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040D4EAAAC2CABFC1-56593777-true#/  to see what our current needs are.
If you sign up for some supplies, please bring them to the church office as soon as you can. Please do not wait until right before camp. The supplies need to be given to the proper station and prepared long before camp starts.
  3. If you have indicated that you would like to let Bible Camp BORROW your Christmas tree, please mark Saturday, June 7th on your calendar. On that day, those who are loaning a Christmas tree should bring it to the Family Life Center, set it up (we will have some teens to help you if needed). Then you take the box/container with you. That way, after camp is concluded, you are invited to come back and get your tree. Your help in building our Alaskan forest is appreciated!
  4.  VOLUNTEER NEEDS: Preschool Bible Story station leader needed!
Other needs: Our volunteer staff is not complete. We still need 8-10 Middle School or High School students and 5-8 more adults to help with various daily tasks (floaters). If you would like to help with VBS, please fill out a Volunteer Registration form ASAP so we can assign you a role. We will have multiple training opportunities: In person on Saturday, May 31st or on Zoom either Tuesday, June 3 or Thursday, June 5. Volunteer registration is found at: https://poporlando.breezechms.com/form/615cba

We Need YOUR Help to Make VBC a Success!

We are currently missing 5 of our 8 Station Leaders — and we usually have a full team by now. Specifically, we still need leaders for:

·         Elementary Games

·         Elementary Imagination Station

·         Elementary Bible Story

·         Preschool Games

·         Preschool Bible Story

We are depending on new volunteers to step in! We use a simple, easy-to-follow curriculum, but we need leaders in place soon so they can review the lessons, request supplies, and prepare for a week of impact. Ideally, each station will have at least two co-leaders — maybe you and a friend?
