Week of September 24, 2023

Today: “True Love” • 1 John 4:19-21; Genesis 4:1-9; John 14:1-7 • In this series of sermons, we have spoken of “perfect love,” love from God with Jesus as the source. Today we throw a twist in there with the phrase “True Love.” While Jesus’ love certainly is true, God’s word leads us today to consider what it means for us to truly exhibit—even give away–God’s love to others in real time. Are we consistently true to who we are as God’s children? Do we truly love others, or are we just going through the motions? Are there people that we avoid because we find them hard to love? Jesus’ true love—how He spoke it and how He lived it—transforms lives. We have been redeemed—set free and made new—to love like Jesus does. We trust Him, and He makes it so simple for us: We love, because He first loved us.
